Return & Warranty Policy
Diesel Control EU (EuroDiesel)
At Diesel Control EU, we supply electronic control modules (ECM/ECU) programmed and ready for installation, as well as diagnostic, repair, and reprogramming services. To ensure transparency, the following return and warranty conditions apply.
1. ECM Hardware Warranty
All ECMs sold by Diesel Control EU include a one (1) year limited commercial warranty from the delivery date.
This warranty covers only:
- Internal manufacturing defects
- Hardware functional failures attributable to the ECM itself
This warranty is void if the ECM shows:
- Physical damage, moisture, overheating, burns, or corrosion
- Tampering, opening, or unauthorized repairs/modifications
- Improper installation, misuse, electrical faults from the vehicle, or third-party intervention
2. Programming Service Warranty (Calibration / Tuning)
Programming, calibration, or custom tuning services are covered by a thirty (30) day limited warranty from the delivery date.
- The customer must install and test the ECM immediately upon receipt.
- Any programming-related issues must be reported in writing within the 30-day period.
- After 30 days, no claims, returns, or refunds related to programming will be accepted.
3. Return Authorization (RMA Required)
Returns are accepted only with prior written authorization from Diesel Control EU.
- Warranty/return requests must be submitted in writing within the applicable period.
- Return shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Unauthorized returns will be rejected.
4. General Return Conditions
- Returns are accepted only within the first 30 calendar days from the delivery date.
- The ECM must be in good physical condition: no damage, burns, moisture, bent pins, broken connectors, or unauthorized modifications.
- ECMs that have been installed or used are subject to technical inspection before any refund is approved.
5. Partial Refunds for Voluntary Returns
If a customer requests a return for reasons other than a confirmed defect:
- The return must be requested within 30 days of receipt.
- The ECM must be in acceptable condition and eligible for reprocessing.
- Each ECM is individually programmed for a specific VIN/engine serial/chassis/application, which may involve non-recoverable software licensing and engineering costs.
For this reason, voluntary returns may be subject to a fixed deduction to cover programming, engineering, and handling expenses.
6. Free Reprogramming for Initial Start-Up Failure
If the ECM does not function properly upon initial installation, the customer may request free reprogramming under the following conditions:
- The ECM must be returned undamaged and without signs of improper installation.
- The customer must provide technical details and diagnostic data.
- The return must be initiated within 15 calendar days of delivery.
Diesel Control EU covers reprogramming and reshipping costs. Installation/removal labor and vehicle transportation are not covered.
7. Products Not Eligible for Return
Returns are not accepted for:
- ECMs altered, tampered with, or damaged by third parties
- Units with burns, bent pins, broken connectors, or damaged circuits
- Modules purchased under “final sale” promotions
- Units with removed or altered serial numbers or labels
8. Return Procedure
- Contact Diesel Control EU in advance by email or phone, explain the reason, and attach supporting evidence (photos, scans, diagnostics, etc.).
- Once approved, you will receive return instructions and an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization).
- After receipt, Diesel Control EU will perform a technical evaluation within 3–5 business days and provide the resolution.
9. Important Notes
- Diesel Control EU is not responsible for incorrect diagnosis, installation errors, or damage caused by the customer or third parties.
- Installation or removal costs are not covered.
- Customers are responsible for return shipping unless Diesel Control EU is at fault or otherwise agreed in writing.
- Unauthorized returns will be rejected.
10. Programming & Inspection Fees (Refund Adjustments)
Each ECM supplied by Diesel Control EU is personalized and programmed for a specific VIN, engine serial number, chassis, or application.
Because these processes involve non-reusable customization and licensed software usage, the following fees may be deducted from any refund if a return is requested after installation or testing:
Heavy-Duty Line (trucks, industrial applications, fleets):
- Standard programming & inspection fee: €600
- Special/advanced programming: €950
Light-Duty Line (VW, Audi, MB Sprinter, etc.):
- Standard programming & inspection fee: €120
To qualify for any refund:
- The ECM must be returned within 30 days.
- It must be properly packaged and free from additional physical or electrical damage.
- Units showing user-induced faults, tampering, or altered data may be rejected or incur additional charges.
11. Diagnostic & Repair Service Terms (Service)
Diagnostic Service (Non-Refundable Fee)
By signing a Service Order or authorizing work, the client confirms the module is believed to be faulty and authorizes Diesel Control EU to perform a technical diagnostic evaluation. The standard diagnostic fee is €200 per ECM.
The diagnostic fee:
- Covers specialized engineering time, bench testing, software use, and technical evaluation already performed
- Is not a deposit or advance payment
- Is non-refundable, regardless of whether the unit is ultimately repairable
Repair Service and Scope
If the module is deemed repairable and the client approves the estimate, Diesel Control EU will perform the repair. The repair service includes a twelve (12) month limited warranty, applicable only to the work performed and the specific components/functions repaired.
Important technical note: Electronic modules may present multiple independent faults. The repair is limited strictly to the circuits/components/functions that were diagnosed and repaired, and does not guarantee correction of unrelated, pre-existing, latent, or intermittent faults.
Refunds Related to Repair Services
- No refunds apply to the diagnostic portion (€200 per ECM) under any circumstances.
- If a repair cannot be completed due to a confirmed technical impossibility, the diagnostic fee remains non-refundable, and the client will not be charged for repair work not performed.
- If, during the repair warranty period, a fault is directly related to the repair performed, the unit must be returned for technical verification with an approved RMA.
If verification confirms that the repair did not resolve the specific repaired fault, Diesel Control EU may, as appropriate, repeat the repair at no additional cost or refund only the repair service portion, while explicitly excluding the diagnostic fee in all cases.
The client understands that electronic modules may have multiple damages or pre-existing degradation, and Diesel Control EU’s liability is limited to the amount paid for the repair service actually performed, excluding diagnostic fees.
